American Quilt Retailer is the premier trade magazine serving the quilting industry. Each issue contains basic retailing concepts, industry trends, product information, business profiles, display ideas and a FREE-to-use pattern. American Quilt Retailer advertisers are some of the best resources in the industry and they rely on American Quilt Retailer to give you up-to-date product information. During the past 15 years, hundreds of independent quilt shop owners have depended on American Quilt Retailer to improve their businesses.

Staff

Susan Fuquay is the owner, publisher, editor, and art director of American Quilt Retailer. With a background in art and design and years of additional experience in retailing, trade magazine publishing and quilting, she started American Quilt Retailer almost 16 years ago. She recognized a need to communicate retailing knowledge, industry news and product information to quilt retailers. Since those early days, American Quilt Retailer has grown from a small newsletter into a four-color magazine that suits the needs of the independent quilt shop owner.

“I’ve always seen my role in the industry as a communicator of sound retailing ideas and current trends from the experts to quilt shop owners. I don’t have all the answers or expertise needed to run a quilt shop, but I love finding the experts and communicating to our readers the information they need to know in order to be successful business owners.”

Jennifer Lokey is the enthusiastic advertising sales representative for American Quilt Retailer. She started her career in the quilt industry in 1985 as co-owner of the book and pattern company, Four Corners Designs, Inc. Growing and developing a successful pattern business, which included fabric design for A.E. Nathan, involved 17 years of observing and moving with the dynamic trends of an ever-changing and expanding quilt industry. Jennifer has designed quilts of all shapes, sizes and techniques, taught quilt classes, authored Machine Embroidered Quilts for Martingale and Co., invented the Center to Trim ruler for Prym Consumer. She has also developed Jennifer Lokey Design Studio, where CD-based digitized embroidery are combined with quilt patterns. With her experience, she brings an acute awareness and understanding of the marketing needs of today’s creative quilt product vendors.
